I can’t believe it’s 2015. Our eldest child will be 5 this year. whoa, where did that go…

I’ve been lucky enough to get out on the bike a bit lately. My fitness is getting better, although my rides have been limited to about 1 hour each. Newborn feeds every few hours, so once I get him to sleep (and dad is home to look after kids ) I have been able to quickly put my bike gear on and head out for a spin around Ironbark (Samford State forest; my closest MTB single track).

Because I tend to ride solo most of the time, I do like my Garmin and Strava. This way I can aim to improve my rides compared to my pre-baby ride times. I have had my Garmin Edge 705 for 7 years now, so there is a lot of data of my rides!

Although I have been out riding a bit, most of my days I spend like this (shameless selfie with cute baby attached) :

Whats next for me?

Queensland has a great mixture of MTB events. http://www.qldmtb.com.au

My short term goal is to race at the XC Oceanias/Nationals at Toowoomba in Feb-March 2015. Baby will only be 4 months old so it will be tricky.

There are also a few short course races coming up, so hopefully Ill be out there!
